The Story

Husband and wife duo that love to create, transform, design, and help others! Tyler has been making and building things since he was a little kid. Furniture for our home, things for his office, etc. Together, we remodeled our KC home and our Nashville home. The idea of starting a furniture/home decor/remodeling business had been an idea for a while. But it became reality on the day we sold our first mid-century modern plant stand on Facebook market. I had been searching for weeks for a mid-century modern plant stand, but couldn’t find anything that was affordable. I showed Tyler what I was trying to find, and he said he could make it for me. The next thing I know, I have a brand new plant stand sitting on the dining room table, that was made for less than $10! I’m all about saving money so I was thrilled. He made another one shortly after and we decided to test it out on Facebook market. Facebook market probably isn’t the best way to test out handmade products, but it sold in less than 2 days. He then started making more products, and we began researching wood decor online. After a lot of research and more product creations, we pulled the trigger and opened our Etsy business.

Shortly after we opened our Etsy business, we sold an old desk to a couple in Nashville. We delivered the desk and got into a conversation about the couples new home. They had an awkward space in the home that they didn’t know what to do with. Tyler suggested shelves, and they were all for it. They asked him if he could do it and he said yes. After the shelving project was complete, they had more projects. Then his name started getting passed around. Before we knew it, he was getting a call every two days from someone asking him for a quote. That’s when we decided that this new venture needed some insurance and LLC.

We combined the Etsy shop with the home remodeling and refinishing into one brand called Oak and Odyssey Home. After a little over a year, we decided to shut down the Esty shop and focus more on remodeling. We still make custom furniture, and we are happy to fulfill your orders through our website.
